Geoscientist magazine cartoons from the last 2 months, I've dabbled with colour for the first time in 8 years on the Brian Sewell one.

Gutted!

I got the idea from Rob Jacksons site to have a bash at a submission for the coveredblog (well worth a look, my favourite is Mike Lowerys Spiderman). They rejected mine as well but it was great fun to do. So much so that I might have another bash sometime, though as I'm not sure what criteria it failed on it's not clear what I would need to do differently. It may be that I didn't pay enough attention to the background or it's too different to the original. Ho hum.

Strange Times

I've been reading 'Strange Times', the collected webcomic of Dave West, and it's a nice little read. 'Little' perhaps isn't the word as one should set aside at least a couple of evenings to read it, and then can keep coming back and spotting new bits every time. This started out as a weekly webcomic, of which Dave has rarely missed a deadline.

The story follows many different characters, a time travelling scientist, the worlds fastest nerd, an ex boxer, a talking rock and the Golem who flew to name a few. It's hard to imagine at the beginning, but the very eclectic strands of the story do meet up further down the line. It's got plenty of nice historical, natural and sciency references, all with a sense of humour so it's right up my street. Good stuff. If you like Adam York Gregorys the Flowfield Unity you'll like this, and vice versa.

Strange Times is a well designed hardback and retails at 10 spond. Copies can be bought on the Accent UK website and info from Daves blog. It's also available from the Accent UK stall at the many cons they attend.

Geological hazards

Crikey, another Geoscientist submission done. Not due for for print until October but the deadline was brought forward, which I suppose is good as I've been leaving these close to the bone every time. Ho hum.
